Double Stroyan Wins for Strathtay GC

We had a wonderful day at Strathtay Golf Club who kindly hosted our Stroyan Trophy and our new Stroyan Salver this year.

The Stroyan Trophy has traditionally been a Foursomes event held annually on one of Perth & Kinross’ 9 hole courses – and we have some real gems to choose from. The Salver was introduced this year to enable our Club’s to enter both a Scratch & Handicap Pairing – to promote P&KCGU events to a wider audience of our members.

Local knowledge was in clearly evident as winners on the day were Simon Gray & John MacBeth (Strathtay) with a gross 67 – winning on better last 3 countback from Blairgowrie’s Craig Hay & Steven Park. In the new Handicap Salver event – the winners were Jim Wilson & Brian Brown (Strathtay) with a nett 59. Runners up in the Salver were Glenn Davies & Mark Millar (Alyth) with a nett 64 – again with a better inward half from Kinross pair Iain Hardie & David MacKenzie.

We must pay tribute to everyone connected to Strathtay Golf Club because we were presented with a course in wonderful condition, hospitality that was 1st class and a welcome and weather to ensure our players enjoyed their day at this stunningly scenic course. If you’ve not played here yet – put it on your bucket list!
