The P&K Autumn Meeting took place at Strathmore today where 28 juniors braved the breezy and blustery weather, with heavy bursts of rain at times!
In the Scratch it was Strathmore’s Angus Palmer who carded a 79 to clinch top spot, with Scratch OOM Leader Robbie Hepburn of Kinross Golf Club in 2nd place on 80 on better inward half from Crieff pair Nathan Buttar and Charlie Malone
In the Handicap it was Auchterarder Golf Clubs Sophie Goult who carded a her best round yet, resulting in a nett 59 to win by 11 shots. In 2nd place it was North Inch’s Matthew Anton on better inward half over Crieff’s Ross Buttar and Strathmore’s Alasdair Brass all on scores of 70.
Thank you to Strathmore Golf Centre who were as always excellent hosts. The course was in fantastic condition and held up well in the elements. Thanks also to Strathmore’s Junior Convenor Iain Butchart who helped with the running of the event, making sure all juniors got their rounds underway on time!
Following the completion of play, the Gleneagles Foundation Order of Merit was updated: Junior Order of Merits – 2025 – Perth & Kinross County Golf Union
Already confirmed for a place on the Gleneagles Scholarship programme, Scratch OOM Leader Robbie Hepburn further extended his lead at the top. It’s also become the case that Archie Pattullo of Strathmore cant finish any worse than 3rd , and has rubber stamped is place in the Gleneagles Scholarship programme also – Congratulations Archie!
The battle for 3rd place is a tighter affair with Liam Nicoll (Muckhart) , Angus Palmer (Strathmore), Lucy Moran (Milnathort) amongst a few other who can jump into 3rd with a couple of strong performances in the final 2 events at Murrayshall and Gleneagles!
In the Handicap its the season long leader Lachlan Dodds-Miklosik of the North Inch who has kept his nose infront of a charging Crieff duo Lucy Robertson and Ross Buttar. With Archie Pattullo already qualifying via the Scratch OOM, it gives Ross’s older brother Nathan a chance to clinch a spot. Nathan has some company however, in the form of North Inch’s Matthew Anton and Strathmore’s Archie Loudon.
Like the Scratch, with 2 events to come the Handicap is a tight affair to decide who will emerge the Handicap OOM Champion and who will clinch those coveted Gleneagles Scholarship spots!
Next up is the Murrayshall Junior Open on the 21st of September, which is rearranged from being postponed due to weather earlier in the year.
